Luis Arzubi
Luis's vast past experience - more than 30 years in various engineering, management and executive roles with IBM - brings a distinctive and valuable technologist and customer point of view to Tallwood's practice.
Before joining Tallwood, Luis was a member of the executive team for IBM's Microelectronics Division. Most recently he served as Vice President and General Manager for the division, where he was responsible for all the semiconductor business segments. During the 1990s he played the key role in moving IBM Microelectronics into the OEM business and making it succeed.
Earlier, Luis was the General Manager for IBM's Burlington, Vermont, site, where he was responsible for two mega fabs and the development lab. From 1986 through 1991, Luis was Lab Director at IBM's General Technology Division, where he was responsible for all of IBM's non-bipolar semiconductor technologies and product development activities.
Luis currently serves on the boards of directors of Amulaire Thermal Technology, Cavendish Kinetics and T-RAM Semiconductor. He is the inventor of five key memory patents and has published more than two dozen technical papers.
Luis holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Littoral in Argentina.
Soren Hein
Soren joined Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures in 2000. Located in Munich,
Germany, he specializes in early-stage semiconductor and component companies.
Previously, Soren held a number of positions with Siemens and then Infineon,
most recently as Vice President of Technology and Innovation of the Wireless
Components Division. Soren holds an M.Sc. from the Technical University
of Denmark, a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley, and
an MBA from INSEAD in France. He is the author of several patents, technical
articles and a book.
David McCarthy
David has an extensive background in technology, business management and venture capital, spanning more than 25 years. David joined Summerhill Venture Partners’ predecessor fund, BCE Capital, in 1995 and has played a key role in the financing, growth and successful exits of many of its investments. Prior to this, David had a 15 year career in the R&D division of Nortel Networks, where he held a variety of strategic planning, business development, and product development roles. David also was the founder of Nortel’s internal Business Ventures organization in 1996 (for internal funding of new business initiatives) and was actively involved in the first corporate development initiatives to facilitate Nortel’s interactions with start-up entities and venture capital organizations. David holds a BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Science.
Guenter Weinberger
Guenter joined Sandbridge from Infineon Technologies. Since 1995 he built
the wireless business at Siemens Semiconductor Group and later at Infineon
Technologies, where he was the Senior Vice President and General Manager
responsible for the entire wireless business from April 1999 through
April 2001 generating revenues of more than $1 billion dollars in 2000.
During this period he built the system solution business as well as strategic
alliances in the wireless industry. Guenter Weinberger started his career
in mixed-signal telecom IC design after graduating as Diplom Ingenieur
of electrical engineering from University of Kaiserslautern, Germany.
